DAMASCUS, (ST)- The cowardly terrorist explosions which targeted Bab al-Saghir area in Damascus on Saturday and led to the martyrdom and wounding of tens of people comes as a response to the major victories achieved by the Syrian Arab army over the takfiri terrorist organizations represented by Daesh, Jabhat al-Nusra and their affiliated groups, the ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said on Saturday.
In two identical letters to the UN Chief and President of The Security Council, the ministry added that the terror attacks also aimed to express the terrorist organizations’ rejection of the reconciliation process which has been fruitful in different Syrian areas.
According to the ministry’s letters, Syria calls on the UN Chief and the Security Council President to condemn this cowardly attack and to uncover the perpetrators and the governments of the countries that back them. Syria also urges the UN and the Security Council to unify the international community’s efforts as to fight terrorism in full coordination and cooperation with the Syrian government, the ministry’s letters said.
The ministry went on to say that Syria also calls on the Security Council to force the governments and regimes of the countries supporting terrorist groups, mainly Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, to halt all forms of support provided to the terrorists, including the arming, training, sheltering and funding of the takfiri terrorists.
The Security Council should also force these regimes to stop disturbing international peace and security, halt their violations of international law and UN charter and implement UN and Security Council’s resolutions relating to fighting terrorism, the ministry added.
