Syria Urges International Condemnation of Terrorist Attacks in Aleppo, Other Syrian Cities

Damascus- Syria affirmed that the non-stopped attacks against the safe residential neighborhoods in Aleppo and other Syrian cities by terrorist organizations during the past few days were due to the continuous support provided to terrorists by the regimes of Qatar, Turkey and other countries, according to SANA.

In two identical letters sent to head of the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General on Thursday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that the UNSC continuous disregard for terrorist crimes gives wrong signals to them to go ahead with their terrorist acts which are threatening security and peace not only in Syria, but in the entire world.

The ministry went on to say that the armed terrorist organizations have been targeting safe residential neighborhoods in Aleppo city and other cities in Idleb province with barrages of rockets, gas cylinders “Hell cannons” and mortar shells, claiming the lives of more than 16 citizens and injuring more than 100 others, most of them women and children.

The ministry added that the government of the Syrian Arab Republic affirmed that the huge support offered by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other countries to Jabhat al-Nusra, Jaish al-Islam, the Free Army, Ahrar al-Sham and other terrorist organizations affiliated to them is the reason behind their continued attacks, adding that these attacks aim at aborting the cessation of hostilities agreement and prove that what is called “Syrian moderate opposition” is linked to armed terrorist organizations.

The ministry concluded its letters by saying that the Syrian government demands that the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General condemn these terrorist crimes that are targeting civilians flagrantly, calling on the UNSC to take deterrent and punitive measures against regimes and states that are supporting and funding terrorism in implementation of the relevant UNSC resolutions.
