Syria Urges Immediate UNSC Condemnation of Terrorist Attacks against Several Syrian Residential Areas
DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syrian has urged the United Nations and the Security Council to immediately and strongly Condemn the terrorist attacks which yesterday hit residential areas in Damascus, Aleppo and Damascus Countryside provinces.
The attacks claimed the lives of 11 civilians, wounded more than 59 people, most of them children, women and elderly, and caused huge damage to houses, schools, hospitals and infrastructure in these areas.
Addressing the UN Chief and President of the Security Council in two identical letters of which SANA got a copy on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said “these terrorist attacks are part of the terrorist organizations’ incessant crimes against civilians in several Syrian cities and they are being carried out at orders from the Saudi and Turkish regime as to undermine Geneva talks and the cessation of hostilities agreement”.
The ministry added that this escalation by the terrorists came after the “Riyadh opposition” had withdrawn from Geneva Intra-Syrian talks and asked its affiliated terrorist groups to shell civilians and Syrian cities.
These terrorist attacks also come within the framework of the daily violations committed by the terrorist organizations calling themselves “opposition” like “Jaish al-Islam, Ahrar al-Sham, the Free Army” and other armed groups against the cessation of hostilities agreement, according to the ministry.
It stressed that the Syrian Arab Army has committed itself to this agreement and practiced highest level of self-control by not retaliating to these violations.
These terrorist attacks won’t stop the Syrian government to press ahead with fighting terrorism and with working as to achieve political solution to the crisis in Syria through Syrian-Syrian dialogue that leads to eliminating terrorism and restoring security and stability to the Syrian people, the ministry said.
It called on the Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities in preserving international peace and security through adopting deterrent measures against the countries which support and fund terrorism.
