DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syrian renews its call on the Security Council to assume its responsibility towards preserving international peace and security and to act immediately as to put an end to the savage crimes being perpetrated by the illegal US-led coalition against the Syrian people, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
In two identical letters to the UN Chief and president of the Security Council about the systematic attacks of the coalition on the Syrian lands and innocent civilians, the ministry said the coalition warplanes, on October 23, 2017, committed a new massacre by firing rockets on al-Qusour residential neighborhood in the city of Deir Ezzor, claiming the lives of 14 civilians and wounding more than 40 others most of them children and women.
Targeting al-Qusour neighborhood, where ISIS terrorists have no presence anymore after the Syrian Arab army and its allies has recently liberated it, comes within the coalition’s suspicious and destructive role in Syria and its feverish attempt to hinder the victories being achieved by the Syrian army and its allies over ISIS terrorist organization, particularly in Deir Ezzor, the ministry said.
It added that events as well as several reports and aerial images prove that ISIS terrorists have launched attacks against the Syrian army and its allies in areas controlled by the coalition and its affiliated terrorist militias on ground.
The ministry went on to say that Raqqa liberation show comes within the same context as the coalition’s warplanes have perpetrated horrible massacres in the city, in which thousands of people were killed, and wiped the city off the face of earth, while, at the same time, it secured, along with its affiliated militias, a safe exit for ISIS terrorists from Raqqa and Deir Ezzor to later attack the positions of the Syrian army and its allies in Deir Ezzor.
The Ministry clarified that the coalition’s announcement of a plan to reconstruct Raqqa won’t succeed in covering up its barbaric crimes in the city and won’t succeed in imposing a de Facto situation there.
The government of the Syrian Arab Republic strongly condemns the coalition’s crimes and lashes out at reports hailing the US-led coalition while turning a blind eye to the deaths of thousands of civilians in Raqqa and to the full destruction of the city, the ministry said.
It concluded by renewing its call on the Security Council to assume its basic responsibilities in maintain peace and security and put an end to the crimes of this illegal coalition against the Syrians.
