Syria Urges Cooperation on Fighting Terrorism, Takfiri Fatwas

TEHRAN-Syria’s People’s Assembly’s (PA) delegation participating in the Asian Parliamentary Assembly Permanent Committee meeting in Tehran has called for making strong decisions against the terrorist takfiri organizations and their supporters.

The Syrian delegation, together with other delegations from Lebanon, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia yesterday discussed methods of confronting terrorism and the danger of terrorist organizations on the social fabric and cultural heritage of the region’s countries.

During the meeting, Syria suggested considering takfirism and extremism as dangerous phenomena which have nothing to do with Islam, therefore the takfiri fatwas released by some “Islamic scholars” should be condemned and confronted.

Syria also urged cooperation with Asian and international parliaments to fight sedition fatwas and their makers due to fact that the takfiri mentality poses a serious threat to Islam and the entire human civilization.
