Syria unsurprised by US decision to license investments in the northeast and northwest of the country: Foreign Ministry

Syria has stressed that supporting the terrorist organizations in the northeast and northwest of Syria by the United States and its western tools has led to the destruction of Syria’s economic capabilities and to the looting of the country’s resources, including its cotton, oil, wheat and antiquities. 

In a statement on Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said that the Syrian Arab Republic is unsurprised by the statement issued by the US State Department in which the US announced that it will license economic activities and investments in the northeast and northwest of Syria, because the successive US administrations have been behind the terrorist war waged on Syria over the past ten years.

 The ministry clarified that providing all forms of aid to the terrorist organizations in the northeast and northwest of Syria by the United States and its western tools has led to the destruction of Syria’s economic capabilities and to the looting of the country’s resource, including its cotton, oil, wheat and antiquities. 

Besides, imposing unilateral coercive measures on Syria by the US and its western allies has led to the destruction of the country’s infrastructure and the martyrdom of many innocent citizens who refused to be involved in the American and western schemes to destroy Syria, the ministry added.

The ministry pointed out that the allegations provided in the US State Department’s statement in addition to the claims of the US Treasury are nothing but part of the American destructive policy which contradicts the United States’ international commitments concerning fighting terrorism and maintaining Syria’s unity and territorial integrity.

“Fragmenting Syria has been an American and western goal, but the steadfastness of the Syrian Arab Army, people, and leadership has foiled achieving this sinister goal,” the ministry clarified.

“The Syrian Arab Republic is determined to defeat this new conspiracy and all the forces behind it. Syria also urges honest and national people in the northeast and northwest of the country to confront this conspiracy and foil it,” the ministry concluded.
