Syria, UNICEF  to enhance educational relations

Damascus, (ST) –  Minister of Education, Dr. Darem Tabaa and Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Syria Angela Kearney on Wednesday discussed ways to boost educational cooperation.

Minister Tabbaa reviewed cooperation relations with the organization, represented in rehabilitating schools and developing the curriculum for category (B) to accommodate students who have dropped out of school, developing the self-empowerment curriculum for children in the areas controlled by armed terrorist groups, and reducing school violence.

He indicated that despite the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people, the educational process continues, students continue to be enrolled at schools, and school supplies are provided for them with the aim of accommodating children who are out of school.

The minister emphasized the need to enhance the quality of education, provide a safe school environment for students and work on a campaign to reduce school violence, educate children and help them to be optimistic and creative.

In turn, Kearney affirmed the organization’s readiness to intensify efforts in support for the ministry with the aim of achieving a safe future for children and a suitable school environment for them through developing the empowerment curriculum (B), rehabilitating schools and reducing school violence.
