Minister of Agriculture in the caretaker government Muhammad Taha Al-Ahmad, during a meeting today with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Turkish Embassy in Damascus Burhan Koroglu, discussed the situation of the agricultural sector in Syria and ways to develop and advance it, in a way that enhances food security and local consumption.
Al-Ahmad stated that the Ministry has a set of plans to advance the agricultural sector due to its importance in Syria, including through qualifying and training the technical caders, enhancing agricultural education and agricultural guidance and supporting agricultural scientific research.
He stressed the ministry’s plan to cooperate and establish partnerships with local and international organizations to advance the agricultural sector.
In turn, Koroglu expressed his country’s readiness to work with the Syrian Ministry of Agriculture as to restore its important role in the light of the new changes in the world to secure food security requirements, given that Syria is a country rich in agriculture.
