Syria, Turkey discuss new steps to Strengthen Industrial Cooperation

Head of the Damascus and Rural Damascus Chamber of Industry, Muhammad Ayman al-Mawlawi, received the Turkish Ambassador to Syria, Burhan Koroglu,  , in the presence of several members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

The meeting discussed developing industrial and trade relations between the two countries and the importance of reactivating the Free Trade Agreement.

The attendees emphasized the need to expand bilateral relations and increase the capacity of border crossings, noting that the next phase requires genuine partnership between the two countries in all areas.

Measures of cooperation between businessmen in the garment industry to stimulate exports of the Syrian garment industry, which would provide significant job opportunities for Syrians, were also discussed.

They also discussed the need to stimulate truck traffic and transit between the two countries, the importance of direct communication between businessmen, facilitating visa requirements for businessmen, and holding joint industrial exhibitions in both countries and inviting Turkish businessmen.

Ambassador Koroglu highlighted the importance of industrial cooperation between the two countries , emphasizing the strong intention to foster greater cooperation between Turkish and Syrian industrialists, including the export of products between the two sides

For his part, Mawlawi thanked the ambassador for visiting the Damascus and Rural Damascus Chamber of Industry.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Turkish people and government for embracing Syrians during the crisis and supporting a free Syria after the fall of the former regime.

Mawlawi pointed to the potential for fruitful cooperation between the two countries, hoping that businessmen in Turkey and Syria would meet soon to discuss all the important points of discussion sought by businessmen in both countries to achieve optimal partnership.
