The Syria Trust for Development has called on all segments of society to unite together and participate in efforts to stop gender-based violence. “For the seventh year in a row, the Syria Trust for Development calls all members of the society including men and women, youth and adolescents, to unite together and participate in mobilized efforts to stop gender-based violence” the Syria Trust for Development said on Saturday on its facebook page.
The Syria Trust for development referred to the high rates of violence which women and girls are exposed to as a result of the difficult circumstances that the Syrian societies faced during the war and the recent earthquake in addition to the social, psychological and economic effects on the stability of families and individuals’ living conditions.
The Syria Trust pointed out that it is participating in the ongoing 16 days of activism against gender-based violence campaign out of its belief that achieving recovery is not possible without awareness and community participation among various groups.
It stressed that the Syria Trust for Development’s beacons continue to carry out psychological support sessions and awareness-raising activities and vocational training which aim at empowering the less vulnerable groups and teaching them jobs to achieve sustainable sources of income that help them achieve independence and financial security.
The Syria Trust explained that it supplies legal services that provide protection for individuals and guarantee their rights, to reduce forms of violence to achieve a better tomorrow for all.
