TEHRAN- Syria is to take part in the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union troika, which is due to be held tomorrow in the Iranian capital to discuss the situation in Gaza, according to Kazem Jalali member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee at the Iranian Shoura Council.
Speaker of the People’s Assembly Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham is due to lead the Syrian delegation to the event in which several other parliament speakers are to take part to discuss ways of confronting the savage Zionist aggression on the Palestinian people in Gaza and means to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians there.
In a press conference on Sunday, Jalali condemned the Zionist aggression and incessant atrocities against the people of Gaza, pointing out that Gaza has been besieged for years by the Zionist entity which has been denying access to all kinds of supplies including foodstuff, medicine and humanitarian aid to the strip over many years.
The Iranian parliamentarian added that Gaza people are suffering from severe plight and that the Israeli crimes are resulting in the martyrdom of hundreds of people including defenseless women and children.
He condemned the silence of the international organizations and the states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation towards the Zionists’ crimes.
Jalali pointed out that Ali Larijani, Head of the Islamic Parliaments Union, said it was necessary to make the voice of the defenseless people of Gaza heard to the whole world.
According to Jalali, the parliaments of Syria, Iran, Sudan, Mali, Turkey, Pakistan, Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon will take part in the meeting along with other MPs of Islamic countries who have not yet confirmed their participation.
More than 375 Palestinians, including women and children, were martyred and over 3000 were wounded as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza which also caused great destruction to the houses of the Palestinians.
