Syria to Participate in GCC Meetings in Mecca

Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shibani intends to participate in the meetings of the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia in Mecca in the coming days, according to Al-Arabiya channel.

The channel quoted sources as saying that the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are keen to support and stabilize Syria and Lebanon.

“This is evident in the Gulf movement witnessed by the two countries through extensive visits by the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, his Kuwaiti counterpart Abdullah Al-Yahya, and the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, who visited Lebanon and Syria recently,” the source added.

The Gulf Cooperation Council countries say that they support Syria and stand in solidarity with the Syrian people, politically, economically and humanely and affirm that the Gulf countries attach great importance to the Syrian file, the source pointed out, stressing the need to respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
