The competitions of the Under-18 Men’s West Asian Basketball Championship will kick off on Monday with the participation of teams from Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. The competitions will last until July 30th.
In its first match, the Syrian team will face its Iraqi counterpart on Monday at 7 p.m., while Lebanon and Palestine will play at 5 p.m. on the same day. On Tuesday, the Syrian team will play with the Lebanese team at 5 p.m., while the Palestinian team will face the Iraqi team at 7 p.m.
The first term of the competitions will be concluded on Wednesday by a match between Syria and Palestine at 7 p.m. and an earlier match between Lebanon and Iraq at 5 p.m.
July 29th will witness the second term’s competitions between the winning teams and July 30th will witness the final match.
Tarif Qutrash, Head of the Syrian Basketball Federation, told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that “this championship is held in Syria for the first time. As a union, we have been keen on hosting tournaments on our land as this reflects positively on our national teams.”
