The 47th International Physics Olympiad kicked off on Sunday in Zurich, Switzerland with the participation of the Syrian Science Olympiad national team. Competitions will continue till 18th of July, 2016.
The International Physics Olympiad is an annual physics competition for high school students.
Emad al-Azeb, Head the National Commission of the Syrian Science Olympiad said in a statement to SANA that the teams taking part in the international event have received good training in a three-week scientific forum.
He hoped that the Syrian team “will achieve notable results in the biggest and most important international youth scientific event to stress Syria’s ability to challenge difficulties and crises by keep encouraging science, excellence and creativity” al-Azeb clarified.
On July 2nd, the National Commission of the Syrian Science Olympiad concluded activities of the scientific forum aiming at preparing the national teams that are to represent Syria in the international contests in the sciences of mathematics, physics, chemistry, informatics and biology. Competitions in Physics will be held in Switzerland, Chemistry in Georgia, Mathematics in Hong Kong, Informatics in Russia and Biology in Vietnam.
The teams of the Syrian Science Olympiad have achieved very good results in international competitions held over the past years.
International Science Olympiads are practical and theoretical scientific contests for high school students. Many countries compete fiercely, in that regard, in order to achieve global supremacy.
The Syrian Science Olympiad is a contest in the basic sciences; Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Informatics for the pre-university students which aims to create iconic creative generation of young people able to act and interact with the science and knowledge era.
