The ministry’s participation came through the General Establishment for Refining and Distribution and the Baniyas Refinery Company.

In a statement on Saturday, the ministry said that the symposium discussed the problem resulted from plastic waste, the quantities produced at the world and the Arab world level, the needs of the global plastic industry for crude oil, the most important technologies and global trends used to recycle plastic waste, ways to benefit from this technology and the possibility of producing energy and polyethylene.

The Symposium also reviewed some Arab countries’ experiences in waste recycling.

Concluding its activities, the symposium recommended shifting towards the concept of the circular economy system for the treatment of plastic waste, activating the advanced systems for managing plastic waste and benefiting from previous experiences and initiatives by some world countries in the field of waste reduction.
