BAGHDAD,(ST)_ Iraq ‘s Acting Culture Minister Taher al-Hammoud said that “Syria ‘s participation in the activities of Baghdad, the capital of Arab culture festival, is a source of pride for Iraq” , thanks to the long history of fraternal relations between the two countries.
During his meeting with Syria’s Minister of Culture Dr. Lubana Mushaweh on Sunday in Baghdad, al-Hammoud indicated that Baghdad and Damascus are the two major symbols who presided over Arab civilization and culture being the Arab state and Islamic capitals for centuries .
Hamoud welcomed the visit of the Syrian delegation and expressed hope that Syria will participate in all the cultural events that will take place over the course of 2013 in celebration of Baghdad as the capital of Arab culture.
The Syrian minister expressed keenness to participate in the activities of Baghdad festival as the capital of Arab culture.
” Damascus and Baghdad are the heart of Arabism and two sisters in blood and spirit, and history shows that”, the Syrian Minister stressed, pointing out that Syria is keen maintain relations with Iraq.
She commended Iraq’s political and economic support for Syria.
The Minister of Culture arrived in Baghdad on Sunday in a visit to the Iraqi capital leading a delegation to participate in the activities of Baghdad as the capital of Arab culture for 2013.
