Syria Takes Part in 6th Baghdad International Festival of Flowers

BAGHDAD, (ST) – The Syrian pavilion got the first place among the countries’ pavilions participating in the 6th Baghdad International Festival of Flowers, which was concluded recently in Baghdad.

Head of the Syrian Federation of Chambers of Agriculture, Eng. Fattouh Jom’ah, who is supervisor of the Syrian pavilion said in a statement to reporters in Baghdad that the Syrian pavilion was able to compete strongly in front of the other participating pavilions due to different types of flowers and ornamental plants, domestic and internal gardens that were present in the on the venue of the festival.

He pointed out that the Damascene Rose, which is Syria’s ambassador to the world, met an overwhelming response among the visitors. Some 11 countries and 74 Arab and foreign companies took part in the festival.

 In a statement to the revolution, said Mohammed al –Sawah president of the Syrian Federation of Exporters (SFE) said in a statement to reporters that the festival of flowers is a complete plan for the SFE in finding foreign markets for Syrian products of all kinds, asserting that the federation will continue its support to the Foreign exhibitions and Syrian exports to be able to open the largest number of international markets to Syrian products of all kinds.

On the sidelines of the festival, the Syrian delegation met with President of the Iraqi Chambers of Commerce and agreed on several joint activities between the two countries, including setting up specialized exhibitions in a number of sectors like textiles, clothing, flowers, medicines and leather with the support of the Federation of Fairs.

The two sides underlined the need to find a solution to the quality certificates for Syrian goods in addition to the agreement on the development of a hotline between the Syrian Federation of Exporters, and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce in Iraq, to find out the problems of industrialists and traders and work to resolve them. They also agreed to set up workshops in Baghdad and bilateral meetings between businessmen and encourage the establishment of joint ventures between the two countries.
