Minister of Education Dr. Mohammed Abdulrahman Turko discussed today with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Swedish Embassy in Syria, Jessica Svardström means of enhancing cooperation in the educational field and develop bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, held at the Ministry building in Damascus, the two sides discussed the education situation in Syria, the number of destroyed schools, and plans to restore them.
They also discussed effective strategies to ensure the reconstruction of educational facilities as well as the importance of international support to accelerate restoration and rehabilitation processes.
Minister Turko emphasized that the ministry is working according to a strategic plan aimed at developing educational work and ensuring education for all Syrian children.
He pointed to the need to lift sanctions imposed on Syria to facilitate the reconstruction process and provide the necessary support, especially in the educational fields.
For her part, Svardström highlighted the importance of developing cooperation between the two countries and the need to support the educational situation in Syria to ensure the best possible education for children.
She emphasized her country’s desire to contribute effectively to improving education in the country.
