Syria has expressed support for friendly Venezuela in holding presidential elections scheduled for next July and said that it is against external interference in this process.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement today, “The government of the Syrian Arab Republic expresses support for the government of the friendly Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in holding the presidential elections scheduled for 07-28-2024 in accordance with the Venezuelan Constitution, and in a way that reflects the desire and will of the friendly Venezuelan people. Syria strongly opposes any “External interference in this process which is considered interference in Venezuelan internal affairs.”
The Ministry added, “The government of the Syrian Arab Republic once again declares its support for the government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in the face of the unilateral economic sanctions imposed on Caracas by the government of the United States of America. Syria further believes that these sanctions are nothing but a continuation of American arrogance and the American approach seeking to undermine security and stability in more than one region of the world.
