Syria, Oman to enhance cooperation in the field of transportation

Muscat, (ST) –  The meeting that was held today in Muscat between the Omani Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Saeed bin Hammoud Al-Ma’awali, and a delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Transport focused on exchanging experiences and information.

The meeting also focused on figuring out the needs of the air transport sector in Syria and on the two countries’ keeness on increasing and expanding the volume of cooperation for the interest of the two brotherly peoples.

The two sides discussed the importance of coordination and consultation and the need to discuss technical aspects related to the development and expansion of the flights of government and private airlines in a way that enhances economic, commercial and social exchange and achieves benefit and prosperity for the peoples of the two countries.

During the meeting, the Omani Minister of Transport was briefed by the Syrian delegation on the work of the transport sector in Syria and the difficulties it suffers from due to the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the country by the United States and the European Union. He was also briefed on the acts of vandalism committed by terrorist organizations in the country.
