On December 19th, Prime Minister, Eng. Hussein Arnous, met with the Sudanese Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Dr. Abu Bakr Omar Al-Bishri, and his accompanying delegation.
The two sides discussed strengthening cooperation in the agricultural field, both plant and animal, increasing trade exchange, and activating the agreements signed between the two brotherly countries.
Eng. Arnous welcomed any steps that would develop economic relations in the agricultural, research and scientific fields and establish joint investments, thus contributing to enhancing food security for the two countries in light of climate changes and the global food crisis.
Eng. Arnous pointed to the importance of providing support to the private sector in Syria and Sudan to establish joint projects that include fodder, agriculture and exporting surpluses of local agricultural production, in a way that secures part of the needs of the two markets.
For his part, the Sudanese Minister of Agriculture and Forestry affirmed his country’s desire to enhance cooperation with Syria in the agricultural field, and the need to invest the resources available in the two countries to secure their needs of materials.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Engineer Muhammad Hassan Qatana, the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Qais Muhammad Khader, and the Director General of ACSAD, Dr. Nasr Al-Din Al-Obeid.
