Syria Strongly Condemns US Decision to Blacklist Iran’s IRGC

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has strongly condemned the US administration’s decision to blacklist Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), stressing that it serves the Israeli occupation entity and the western colonialist schemes aiming to dominate the region, an official source at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates told SANA on Monday.

The US aggressive move is a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the source said.

“This irresponsible step by the American administration comes within the framework of the undeclared war waged by the United States against Iran. It basically serves the Israeli entity and the western colonialist schemes which have sought dominating the region,” the source added, pointing out that this behavior proves that the current US administration is the biggest supporter of Zionism in the history of the United States.

The source concluded by saying that the US procedure recognizes the leading role of the Iranian Revolution Guards Crops’ leading role in defense of Iran’s sovereignty and independent national decision. It also recognizes the IRGC’s key role in the axis of resistance against American hegemony and arrogance and in confrontation of the expansionist Zionist aggression against the region’s countries and peoples.

The White House on Monday announced that it had proposed the blacklisting of the IRGC in a first ever move for the US to designate an official military force of another country as terrorist.
