Syria stresses the need to categorically reject the politicization of the origin of the Corona virus

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has stressed the necessity of categorically rejecting the politicization of the issue of the origin of the Corona virus since this politicization does not serve any cause and does not help to fight the epidemic collectively and cooperatively.

It said in a statement issued on Sunday that the Syrian government supports the World Health Organizations (WHO) to implement the decisions adopted by the World Health Conference to unveil the origin of the Corona virus and to fight it.

“The Syrian side highly appreciated the Chinese government’s cooperation in studying the origin of the virus with the World Health Organization before others, and the positive results it achieved in this regard,” the ministry added.

It went on to say that Syria noted with concern that the United States and some other countries have taken a series of provocative steps aimed at politicizing the issue of  the origin of the virus and publicly denied the joint study prepared by China and the World Health Organization.

“The United States and some other countries are trying, through these steps, to use the issue of unveiling the origin of the virus as a mechanism to launch a political attack on other countries, especially China. These steps damaged the basic rules and the atmosphere of scientific research, hamper international efforts to combat the epidemic and fuel polarization and political division, the ministry affirmed.
