Syria says US- backed separatist SDF militia systematically targets education sector

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has affirmed the continuity of the crimes of the US-backed “Syrian Democratic Forces” militia against the residents in militia-held areas.

In a statement released today on the SDF militia’s terrorist crimes against Syria’s children and educational institutions, the ministry said that the SDF militia has made systematic violations since 2013 where it started to intervene in the curriculum and to seize schools forcibly and turn them into military sites and jails.

“The SDF militia also threatened students and teachers, stopped education gradually, imposed curriculums without taking into consideration the content of books,” the ministry added.

It pointed out the Syrian citizens’ rejection of the SDF militia’s violations and their insistance on sending their children to government schools, pushed the  militia, which works on implementing its separatist agenda,  to use force against families, students and teachers to obey the militia’s orders.

“The continuity of such violations puts the UN human rights organizations’ credibility to the test as they should condemn these violations and put pressure on the countries that support this militia with the aim of saving the region’s students,” the ministry concluded.
