AMMAN, (ST)- Speaker of the Syrian People’s Assembly (PA) Hammouda al-Sabbagh has underscored that Syria’s victory over terrorism will mark the birth of more balanced new world order whose features have begun to strongly appear in the light the collapse of the unipolar order which have had disastrous impacts on the Arab nation and it causes, particularly the Palestinian cause.
Sabbagh, who was speaking on Sunday during the 29th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) being held in Amman, affirmed that Syria’s victory over terrorism is a victory for all the Arabs and the region and it will contribute to ridding the world from this plague which was created by the most aggressive powers in the world.
He said that no people in the world have been exposed to such a huge and complicated terrorist aggression like the one the Syrian people has been facing. He pointed out that “this aggression comprised the terrorism of mercenary gangs, the terrorism of Psychological and media war, the terrorism of diplomatic boycott and the terrorism of the economic siege.”
“This terrorist aggression against the Syrian people was launched because of their adherence to their independence and because of their keenness on their Arabism and on liberating occupied Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan,” added Sabbagh.
The PA speaker went on to say that the Zionist enemy doesn’t want peace and the battle with this entity is a battle for existence. He pointed out that Arabs face a common destiny and a common danger that can’t be confronted except through a common modern national project in which priority is given to the common Arab defense of Arab existence.
“Defending al-Quds means defending Palestine.. and defending Palestine means defending our existence as a great nation, ” said Sabbagh, stressing that experience has proved that no alternative for resistance to confront this dangerous cancer [Zionist entity].
Jordanian Parliament Speaker Calls for Political Solution to Crisis in Syria

Earlier, Speaker of the Jordanian parliament Atef al-Tarawneh stressed the need to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria that preserves its unity and helps restore Syria’s role as one of the key pillars of stability in the region and of common Arab action.
He made the remarks during the opening ceremony of the 29th Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) which kicked off its activities on Sunday in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with the participation of Syria’s People’s Assembly Speaker Hammouda al-Sabbagh.
Tarawneh also reiterated the need to support “bothers” in Yemen, Libya and Sudan to help achieve security and stability in these countries.
He said that the Palestinian cause will continue to be the central cause of the Arabs and that any solution that doesn’t guarantee justice and protect the Palestinian people’s rights won’t live and is doomed to failure.
Heads of 17 Arab parliaments and representatives of other parliaments participate in the 2-day conference being held under the title “al-Quds, the Eternal Capital of Palestine”.
On Saturday, Sabbagh arrived in Amman upon an invitation from Speaker of Jordan’s House of Representatives Atef al-Tarawneh to participate in the conference.
