Syria’s special sports team player Ali Asaad qualified for the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2021

Syria’s special sports player Ali Asaad qualified for  the Tokyo 2021 Paralympic  Games  after he  had achieved international qualification standards for the shot put  classification.

Asaad’s qualification came after he scored 11.71 meters in the shot put  in the Grand Prix championship that took place in Tunisia last year, as this number is considered among the international qualification criteria for the “F 11” classification for  shot put.

Head of the  General Sports Federation Firas Mualla indicated in a statement to SANA that what was accomplished  by the player Asaad is a  new achievement added to the accomplishments of special sports and deserves to be honored.

Asaad’s qualification  “carries more than one meaning and more than a message”, according to Mualla, stressing that this result would not have been achieved without the concerted efforts and  the player’s  strong  will  of national patriotism .

Mualla underlined  that sports leadership pays special attention to people with special needs and is keen on supporting   the athletes and providing  them with appropriate equipment and external participation   within the framework of preparing for the Tokyo Olympics next year.

The player Asaad  is the  third  to qualify for the Tokyo 2021  Paralympic Games  after Mohammed Khaled Al-Muhammad when he achieved the silver medal in the  world  championship of shot put  competition  that was held in Dubai, UAE,  and Alaa Abdul Salam, who qualified after achieving the international qualification standards for the F-53 classification for  shot put.

It is noteworthy that Asaad won two silver medals in the Grand Prix championship in the UAE in 2018 and the  sixth place in the Asian session that was held in Indonesia in the same year as well as gold, silver and bronze in the Grand Prix championship in 2019..
