Syria’s Sovereignty, Independence and Territorial Integrity Red Lines: Susan

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Susan has stressed that the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Syria are red lines and that any foreign military presence in Syria without the approval of the Syrian state is illegitimate.

He made the remarks during his meeting on Tuesday with the visiting European Political and Parliamentarian delegation led by Roberto Fiori, Leader of the European Alliance for Peace and Freedom (APF). Talks dealt with latest developments in Syria.

Susan affirmed that the successive victories being achieved by the Syrian Arab army in the fight against takfiri terrorism are victory for the entire humanity, because terrorism recognizes no borders or religions, noting that Europe has been greatly affected by this takfiri terrorism.

“Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity are red lines and any foreign presence in the country without the approval of the Syrian state is illegitimate and the outcomes of this presence are void and has no effect, because it is considered as an occupation and it is a flagrant violation of international law and the principles and goals of the UN Charter,” Susan said.

The Syrian diplomat added that people in Europe are speaking up against the American policies, particularly after the decision of Trump’s administration to withdraw from the Iranian nuclear deal and impose fees on European products.

He urged the European Union to stop its subordination to the American policies and adopt an independent policy that serves the European interests and restores balance to the world order.

On their part, members of the delegation, who voiced their support for Syria in its war on terrorism, slammed the EU polices towards Syria and vowed to convey a true image about events in Syria to western public opinion.
