HAVANA, (ST)- The Syrian delegation participating in the 37th Havana International Fair last night held meetings with Cuban economic officials with the purpose of boosting economic ties between the two countries.
During his meeting with the Syrian delegation, President the Cuban Chamber of Commerce Orlando Hernandez Guillen said he was pleased over Syria’s participation in this important economic fair, affirming that the Syria’s presence in this event is clear evidence that Syria has started economic recovery following years of brutal terrorist war.
He pointed out that Syria’s participation would further strengthen the bilateral ties and open the way for expanding trade exchange given the deep-rooted and strong friendship between the two countries.
On his part, Syria’s ambassador to Cuba Idris Mayya said that Syria’s participation in Havana fair confirms the two countries’ determination to boost economic ties up to the level of the political ones, particularly in light of the current circumstances in which the two countries are facing unfair economic blockade imposed by the United States and its allies.
Member and Secretary of Damascus Countryside’s Chamber of Commerce Mohammad Kheir Saryoul said that Syria is displaying several high quality national products in the fair, stressing that Syria and Cuba have agreed on exchanging goods aiming at breaking the economic siege.
The 37th Havana International Fair was opened last Tuesday.
