Syria’s participation in Expo Dubai is an opportunity to present civilized image of Syrian history, culture, economy and people

The Syrian pavilion at Expo Dubai 2020 is preparing to welcome visitors to the exhibition and present a comprehensive view of Syrian history, culture, arts, and economy. The main focus of the exhibition will be on presenting Syria as an active and influential element in the history, culture, arts and economy of the world.

Syria’s participation in the exhibition, which will last for six months from the first of next October until the 31st  of March next year, aims to build bridges of fruitful cooperation with the participating and visiting parties for this important international exhibition. The Syrian pavilion will be a window displaying a rich civilization that contributed to laying the foundations that link our contemporary world and seeks to rise again and claim its place in the world.

Syria’s participation comes under the slogan “Together, the future is ours.” It is inspired by its history and the aspirations of the Syrians for the future, as they have contributed to the development of human history and due to the fact that the first alphabet and  the first musical note and a poem were invented in Syria.

All this makes the Syrian person a real example that embodies the theme of “Connecting Minds and Creating the Future”, which the Expo Dubai 2020 has taken as its slogan.

The Syrian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and Commissioner-General of the Syrian Pavilion at Expo  Dubai2020, Dr. Ghassan Abbas, underlined the importance of the UAE hosting the International Expo for the first time in the region, pointing out that this exhibition will witness an unparalleled success. Syria seeks to make its participation in this exhibition distinguished through which it will present the civilized image of Syrian culture and the Syrian people.

Ambassador Abbas said that participation in the exhibition is an opportunity to enhance our presence on the international scene through our communication with visitors from all over the world during the exhibition period. Currently, work is underway around the clock to finish the final touches to the pavilion in preparation for the opening.

In addition to the cultural, artistic and historical aspects, the pavilion pays great attention to the important economic opportunities offered by Expo Dubai 2020 to Syrian companies and businessmen.  A section of the pavilion has been designated to be a business center that will host personalities  and institutions active in the Syrian economy.

The Commissioner-General of the pavilion concluded by saying: In addition to the rich experience of the pavilion, we are working on organizing a program of various cultural, artistic and economic events, which we will be announced successively. We are ready to welcome Expo  Dubai 2020 visitors from all over the world to communicate with them and create our future together.

Director of the Syrian pavilion at Expo Dubai2020, Eng. Khaled al-Shamaa, confirmed that Syria’s participation provides an important opportunity for the public and private sectors in Syria to communicate with the international business community and explore opportunities for cooperation and investment.

According to the organizers of the Syria Pavilion, visitors will be briefed on some of the most important Syrian historical contributions to human civilization. They will be able to see a replica of the Ugarit alphabet, which is agreed upon as the first alphabet in history, dating back to about the year 1400 BC. They will be acquainted with the stages of the development of writing and the alphabet in various regions of Syria and how this alphabet affected the world, leading to the Arabic language, which affected many of the world’s languages.

The pavilion focuses also on the development of the first agricultural societies in Syria, which researchers date back to about 15,000 BC.  Here visitors will be able to participate in an interactive artwork of which they  will be a part and symbolize the organic relationship between man and nature.

A collective exhibition of Syrian painters will be held under the theme “I am  Syrian”, where each painting represents a face from Syria. The idea of the exhibition is based on the fact that every Syrian person is part of the collective awareness that we all together will build a brighter future for Syria and the world. The artists will sign all the paintings with one signature, “I am the Syrian”.
