Syria’s Mufti: US, West Started to Suffer Repercussions of Their Support for Terrorist Takfiri Thinking

DAMASCUS, (ST)-The United States and the West, which incubated and fed takfiri terrorist thinking, have started to suffer the repercussions of their behavior which aimed to distort Islam through making people of the world think that what the extremists are doing represents Islam,” Syria’s Grand Mufti Badreddin Hassoun yesterday stressed.

Hassoun’s remarks were made during his meeting with a visiting delegation representing the Arab Journalists’ Federation in the United States.

The Mufti said Syria has kept steadfast in confrontation of terrorism and extremism thanks to the Syrians’ awareness about the dimension of the conspiracy hatched against their country.

He stressed that the Syrians abroad mirror Syria’s bright civilization. He hailed the Syrian expatriates’ role in strengthening their sons’ connection with their homeland and in supporting their country’s steadfastness.

On their part, members of the delegation expressed pride in the role of the Islamic and Christian men of religion in Syria in refuting the lies of the misleading media and in thwarting the media’s plans to feed division among the people of the nation.
