TEHRAN,(ST)_ The Republic ‘s Grand Mufti Dr Ahmad Badr Eddin Hassoun stressed that what is happening in Syria is a tax over Syria ‘s incubating of and support for resistance and the Palestinian cause and rights , warning “that the Muslim world is at a crossroads where, we’re losing our Islamic countries one after another.”
In a speech on behalf of the Arab and Islamic delegations during the opening of the International Conference on Islamic unity in Tehran today (Sunday), the Grand Mufti pointed out that the goal of the events in Syria is not a ” regime change” as they claim, but the destruction of a country that embraced and supported resistance and sacrificed a lot for it.”
“Yes, this is what is happening in Syria, especially when I hear of the rights of the Syrian people. This word is the shirt of Caliph Othman and the Shirt of Messenger Yusuf . They wanted to liberate Iraq from Saddam, and we see what they did with it.” The Grand Mufti questioned.
The Grand Mufti asked “Were the factories of Aleppo Stolen and its mosques destroyed in order to change the regime .. Can the regime be switched by destroying mosques and stealing factories.. .. Are the Patriot missiles against the regime in Syria or against the rockets of resistance” ?, calling upon all Muslims to reconsider all these unsubstantiated allegations.
” Syria did not threaten Turkey any day. It rather embraced resistance for more than 40 years and is paying s dearly for the Palestinians. . If we want to change the regime, do we kill the Syrian people, displace them, arm the Syrians against each other or divide them into sects and doctrines through more than 40 satellite channels, of the mission of tearing the Muslim world.” He added .
He continued that the Syrian leadership extended its hand to the opposition for dialogue , but the opposition rejected the language of dialogue and refused to hold the dialogue in Iran, rather went to the capitals of the colonial West in London and Paris. He expressed hope that this conference would be held in Damascus or Aleppo so as the world to see in its neutral eye what they did to the Syrian people . “They have slaughtered Muslims under the banner of Muslims. “The Syrian Grand Mufti noted.
In an inaugural speech, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, the secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought expressed hope that participants in the deliberations of the conference will study problems and crises of the Islamic world and find solutions to them especially problems pertinent to wars between Muslims.
Muslim scholars and thinkers from 102 countries will be discussing the issue of unity among Islamic Ummah and the existing problems of the Muslim world during the two-day event.
