Syria’s Friendly Countries Played Key Role in Backing Syrians’ Steadfastness

Damascus, (ST)-President Bashar Al-Assad on Tuesday received the Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli and the accompanying delegation.

Talks dealt with strategic relations between Syria and Iran and the close cooperation between the two countries in all fields, particularly in the fight against terrorism which is threatening the region and the world amid continuous attempts by regional and international parties to hinder anti-terrorism efforts and block the process of attaining a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria by supporting terrorism, providing a cover to the terrorists and stirring tension in the region.

President Al-Assad highly appreciated Iran’s supportive stances towards Syria and said “Syria’s friendly countries like Iran and Russia have played a key role in supporting the steadfastness of the Syrian people over the past five years and in helping them achieve victories in their battle against takfiri terrorism; victories that may specify, to a large extent, the features of a new world map.”

On his part, Fazli reiterated that his country’s support for the Syrian people and leadership is strong and firm and is starting from Iran’s faith in the fact that the Syrian people are facing a heinous global war whose danger exceeds Syria’s borders and the region and which uses takfiri terrorism and extremist ideas as tools.

The meeting was attended by Interior Minister Mohammad al-Sha’ar and the Iranian Ambassador in Damascus.
