A symposium was held Friday in the Syrian Embassy in Moscow to exchange viewpoints over the recent developments in Syria, according to the alikhbaria Syria Television channel.
The TV channel said that Russian intellectual and political analysts attended the symposium in which Syria’s Ambassador to Moscow, Riad Haddad, talked about the steadfastness of the Syrian people and praised Russia’s role at political and military levels.
“The Syrian government fulfills all its duties and implements the Syrian constitution. When the presidential elections took place in Syria, the situation was very difficult. However, the situation now is better as situation in many cities in Syria has become normal. So, Parliamentary elections could take place comfortably,” the ambassador said.
Member of the Federal Russian Social Council Gourgy Vidirov said that the Syrian parliamentary elections are very important during this time. “The big number of parliamentary candidates proves that the elections are democratic. The most important thing is to prevent terrorists from hindering the political life,” he added.
The participants in the symposium asserted that the Syrian-Russian relations are strong and the counterterrorism was a result of identical viewpoints between the two countries about the reality of the events taking place in Syria.
They stressed that Russia seeks to reach a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria through supporting Geneva 3 talks and the Russian-US agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Syria.
Supporting Syrian parliamentary elections and Geneva talks and going ahead with fighting terrorists were the main point on which the participants agreed.
