Syria’s al-Ikhbariya TV Targeted by ISIS Gunfire in Deir Ezzor, Cameraman Injured

DEIR EZZOUR, (ST)- The Syrian Al-Ikhbariya TV channel team on Friday came under fire from ISIS terrorists in Deir Ezzor countryside. The channel’s cameraman Ibrahim al-Hamwi was injured in the attack, but his colleagues were unharmed.

The team were covering the army’s operations in al-Jafra village, east of Deir Ezzour when the terrorists of ISIS opened fire on them.

Commenting on the terrorist act, Information Minister Omran al-Zou’bi told al-Ikhbariya TV that the attack was an attempt to silence the media outlets which tell the truth and uncover the terrorists’ crimes to the Syrian people and the entire world.

According to al-Ikhbariya TV Director Imad Sara, al-Hamwi was moved by some army personnel to a medical center for treatment and his condition is stable now.

He stressed that terrorist attacks against journalists won’t undermine their determination to cover the war on terrorism, affirming that al-Ikhbariya Channel will keep covering the Syrian army’s  anti-terror operations until security is restored nationwide.
