Mr. Kharboutli pointed out that priority is to rehabilitate the system of the generation sector. The main objective in this area is Aleppo Thermal Station through the re-operation of three groups of 600 MW. This is also the case for two steam turbines at the Maharda and Teshreen power stations, as well as generating 700 megawatts at Deirezzour plant.
The representatives of Russian enterprises and companies confirmed their readiness to contribute to the restoration and implementation of new projects related to the electricity sector within the framework of the reconstruction of Syria.
The representatives of the Russian side pointed to the importance of discussing the basic cooperation issues, especially in their technical, legal and financial aspects. They expressed confidence that the visit of the Syrian delegation will be fruitful and the previous decisions will be implemented and the cooperation between the two countries will be developed in this vital area.
The minister and the accompanying delegation were briefed on the operating systems of this station, which is the most modern in the energy system in Moscow and has a capacity of 236 MW and feed some of the districts of the Russian capital with electricity.
The meetings were attended by members of the delegation accompanying the Minister of Electricity and Syrian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Dr. Riad Haddad.
