Syria, Russia to continue cooperation and coordination

Moscow, (ST) – The Syrian Ambassador to Moscow, Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, reviewed with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, the political developments in the region and the world.

During the meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Russian Foreign Ministry yerterday, the two sides pointed to the identical positions of Syria and Russia regarding political issues of common concern, and stressed the need for continued cooperation and coordination between Damascus and Moscow, in a way that serves common interests.

A statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry stated: During the meeting, the issue of comprehensive humanitarian assistance for all Syrians in need was discussed, with a focus on early reconstruction tasks for infrastructure projects of urgent importance and the steady delivery of aid from Damascus to all regions of the country, as confirmed by the Security Council resolution. 2672.

The Russian statement added that the two sides also referred to the consequences of unilateral Western economic sanctions that impede the reaching of humanitarian assistance to Syria.
