Syria, Russia discuss energy cooperation

The Syrian-Russian cooperation in the field of energy was the main theme of a meeting between Syria’s Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources Bassam Tou’meh and the Russian Minister of Energy Nikolay Shulginov.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week International Forum in Moscow, which kicked off this morning with the participation of a Syrian delegation.

The two sides stressed the importance of exchanging expertise in all energy branches with special focus on the use of renewable energy resources in the coming era.

The main goal of the forum, which lasts until October 15th, is to explore the possibilities of international cooperation in energy. The forum’s organizers want it to be a platform for discussing the main challenges and difficulties facing the development of the various branches of energy, including gas, oil, coal and petrochemicals, in addition to the electric power and the nuclear and renewable energy.

The wide participation in this forum indicates the importance of the topics listed on its agenda and stresses Russia’s role as a trusty strategic partner that seeks transparent and open international cooperation in the multiple fields of energy.
