Syria reiterates its adherence to cooperate with IAEA

VIENNA, Nov 25, (ST)-Syria has reiterated its adherence to enhancing the implementation of legal instruments related to the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The agency reported on Thursday that this came when Dr. Ibrahim Othman Director-General of the Syrian Atomic Energy Commission, handed to the Director- General of IAEA Ambassador Rafael Grossi the Syrian government’s approval of the joint Convention that deals with the safety of management and storage of radioactive waste and spent fuel.

It added that Syria reiterated its commitment to cooperate with the IAEA and to fulfil its obligations in accordance with the international agreements and joint programs.

Ambassador Grossi and Dr. Othman reviewed the ways of enhancing technical cooperation between Syria and the agency.
