Syria regrets that the OPCW has turned in a tool that fabricates accusations

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari said during UN  Security Council held today that Syria regrets that the Organization for the prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has turned into a tool in the hands of enemy countries for fabricating accusations.

 

He affirmed that Western countries continue to destabilize dozens of member states of the international organization and to occupy their lands and loot their resources ,oil and antiquities.

 

“Western countries have used the OPCW to fabricate accusations so as to justify the aggression on Syria with the aim of achieving  what it has failed to realize through investment in terrorism and imposing coercive economic measures,” Al-Jaafari added. 

 

He made it clear that the OPCW reports are based on uncertain presumptions called open- sources and on what terrorist organizations, mainly the White Helmets, said. 

 

“Syria and Russia have proven over the past years the falsity of the reports’ claims. Syria has submitted documented information in more than 215 letters and has presented proof  compiled by academics and military experts…Moreover, Syria presented its monthly report on December 16, 2020 to the OPCW Technical Secretariat and it affirms its readiness to go ahead with consultation in accordance to the agreement reached with the organization,” Al-Jaafari declared. 

 

He stressed that Syria denounces the West’s pressures that aim to force the OPCW and its state members to adopt the Western-French resolution that claims Syria’s non-adherence to its obligatins under OPCW agreement. 

 

“Syria condemns the use of Chemical weapons and weapons of mass destruction anywhere and anytime by anyone and under any circumstances,” al-Jaafari clarified.

 

He indicated that the first chemical attack took place in Syria on March, 19, 2013, when a terrorist group fired a shell carrying chemical gases on Khan Al-Asal area in Aleppo province where 25 people, including 16 soldiers were martyred and scores were wounded. 

 

He concluded by saying that any decision to be issued by the OPCW on the incidents in Latamneh in accordance with the fabrications of the so-called the illegal “OPCW Investigation and Identification team” will be politized and it aims to blame Syria and to acquit terrorists and their supporters.
