Syria Receives first batch of Russian construction machineries

TARTOUS, (ST)- The Ministry of Housing and Public Works on Saturday received the first batch of construction machinery and equipment from the Russian Stroyekspert building company to support the Syrian construction sector which has been damaged by terrorist attacks. The machineries were received in Tartous port.

The batch of equipment is part of the memorandum of understanding signed in 2018 between both sides to import 144 machines within a year, according to Deputy Minister of Public Works and Housing Mohammad Saif Eddin, who stressed that these equipment and machineries are very important for Syria’s coming reconstruction process.

 The received equipment are to compensate for the machineries damaged during the terrorist war on Syria, said Eng. Mohammad Assi, Head of the General Company for Roads and Bridges.

Stroyekspert’s  Director General Denis Matuz hailed the fruitful cooperation between the company and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, stressing that this cooperation comes in  implementation of the cooperation protocols and the agreements reached in the meetings of the joint Russian-Syrian committee for trade, economic, technical and scientific cooperation.

He pointed out that Stroyekspert has signed a memorandum of understanding with the General Establishment for Housing in Syria to carry out the ministry’s housing projects, including the construction of  island 21 in al-Dimas area in Damascus Countryside aiming at establishing a housing and investment district in accordance with a modern architectural vision.
