Syria on Saturday received a shipment of humanitarian aid presented by the Republic of Belarus to the Syrian people.
The aid shipment contains medical products, electric transformers and foodstuffs that will be distributed in accordance with a plan prepared by the Relief Subcommittee in Lattakia and the Ministry of Health.
Upon receiving the shipment, Governor of Lattakia Amer Ismael Hilal told reporters that this aid indicates the deep cooperation between the peoples of Syria and Belarus and affirms the importance of the support provided by the Republic of Belarus to Syria during the terrorist war that has targeted it.
On his part, the Belarusian Ambassador to Syria Yuri Sluka said that this shipment of aid confirms the support of the Belarusian government and people for the Syrian people who have suffered from terrorism for more than 11 years. He expressed his hope that the Syrian people will achieve complete victory over terrorism and will manage to preserve their country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He stressed keenness on continuous cooperation between the two countries.
Deputy Minister of Local Administration and Environment Mu’taz Qattan said that the aid stresses Belarus’ support for Syria in the face of the western coercive economic measures, urging more cooperation particularly in Syria’s reconstruction process.
Director of Health in Lattakia Hozan Makhlouf said that the shipment contains necessary medicines that can support the Syrian hospitals and health centers in the light of the unjust blockade imposed on Syria.
