Syria receives 150.000 Covid-19 vaccine doses from China

DAMASCUS, (ST)_Syria received on Thursday 150.000 Covid-19 vaccine doses from China, according to the Syrian News Agency (SANA). 
 
After signing of the memorandum of the receipt of the doses of vaccines at Damascus International Airport, Minister of Health in the caretaker government Hassan  al-Ghabbash told reporters : “150,000 doses of the Sinopharm anti-Covid 19 vaccine are received, in continuation of the Chinese batches and its permanent support for Syria in several fields, particularly  with regard to the health sector.”
 
For his part, Chinese Ambassador in Damascus, Fong Biao praised the fruitful cooperation between his country and Syria to combat Covid-19 pandemic since its outbreak, adding that during the recent visit of State Counselor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Wang Yi, to Damascus, China pledged to provide  500,000 vaccine doses plus various types of medical devices to Syria.
 
He thanked the Syrian ministry of health for its effort to transport the vaccine doses from China to Syria. 
 
Biao affirmed that the joint WHO-China study on Covid-19 origin is scientific and reliable and must be respected.
