Syria Reaffirms Full Cooperation with OPCW: Foreign Ministry Source

DAMASCUS- Syria reaffirmed willingness to fully cooperate with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and deliver on the obligations consequent to its joining the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), an official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said on Thursday, according to SANA.

Based on this, the source added, Syria repeats that the ongoing US and Western campaign of disinformation over an alleged use of toxic gases in Douma and the claims of obtaining evidence pertaining to it are a “clear attempt to misguide public opinion in service of aggressive schemes against Syria.

In a move consistent with this, Syria has invited the OPCW to send a fact-finding team to visit the site in question, offering all necessary facilitations for them to carry out their job in a transparent and accurate way that steers clear of political pressure exerted by the countries backing terrorist organizations, the source stated.

Syria has readily granted the team’s members the entry visas to commence their work in Syria, according to the source.

Syria blames any delay in the team’s access and performance of duties on Western sides bending over backwards to obstruct the mission and intervene in its task and due execution of mandate, the source affirmed.
