Syria Ready to Enhance Cooperation with Switzerland in Humanitarian, Development Fields: Mikdad

DAMASCUS, (ST)-The Syrian government highly appreciates the humanitarian aid provided by Switzerland to Syria, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad told Manuel Bessler, the Federal Council Delegate for Swiss Humanitarian Aid and Head of the Humanitarian Aid Unit at the Swiss Foreign Ministry, during a meeting in Damascus on Wednesday.

Al-Mikdad  stressed the  government’s readiness to enhance cooperation and coordination with the Swiss side in the humanitarian and development fields.

 The deputy minister affirmed that the armed terrorist groups keep targeting the Syrian infrastructure, clarifying that the terrorists have recently committed a war crime and a crime against humanity against the citizens in Damascus and Aleppo by cutting off water supply aiming to add more suffering to civilians.

He urged the international community to adopt more effective stances as to put an end to the crimes of the terrorist organizations and to hold their supporters accountable.

On his part, Bessler stressed the willingness of the Humanitarian Aid Unit at the Swiss Foreign Ministry to boost its cooperation with the Syrian side, noting that the Swiss Development Agency is to open its office in Damascus soon. He thanked the Syrian government for the facilitations it is providing for the Swiss side in this regard.
