DAMASCUS, Feb.22, (ST)-Today, caretaker Health Minister, Dr. Maher Al-Sharaa, discussed with a delegation from the Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) ways to strengthen health and humanitarian cooperation.
The discussion came during a meeting held today at the Ministry’s headquarters, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The agency reported that the two sides discussed the importance of focusing -during the current stage- on improving the health and humanitarian situation of the Syrian people, and setting up field hospitals in a number of governorates.
Dr. Al-Sharaa said: “The Ministry is working to meet the emergency needs of the health sector during the current period within a list of priorities that includes dialysis, cancer and thalassemia patients, stressing the importance of supporting humanitarian organizations to advance the health situation. ”
For his part, Assistant QRC’s Secretary, Mohammed Al-Bishri, declared that supporting the health sector in Syria includes providing medicines, supporting the kidney dialysis unit, providing facilities affiliated with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent with the necessary equipment.
