Syria , Qatar Discuss Ways to Enhance joint Sports Cooperation

With the aim of developing Syrian sports and strengthen mutual cooperation with the State of Qatar, Minister of Sports and Youth Mohammad Samih Al-Hamid met the Chargé d’Affaires of the Qatari Embassy in Damascus, Khalifa Abdullah Al-Mahmoud.

The two sides discussed ways to support sports facilities and rehabilitate damaged infrastructure by leveraging Qatar’s pioneering experience in building and developing sports stadiums that utilize the latest technologies.

This would enable the transfer of Qatari expertise to Syria to enhance its sports infrastructure according to global standards.

They also explored mechanisms for exchanging sports expertise, particularly through benefiting from Aspire Academy and sports medical centers in Qatar.

This collaboration aims to improve training programs and sports development in Syria.

The meeting emphasized organizing sports and youth festivals as part of sports cooperation, where Syria can benefit from Qatar’s experience in hosting major international tournaments, such as the World Cup and the Asian Cup, to study best practices in organizing sporting events professionally.

Additionally, the two sides also discussed the development of sports media in Qatar and the potential to utilize sports technology and digital media to support Syrian sports through the application of the latest broadcasting and sports analysis technologies that have contributed to Qatar’s success in promoting sporting events globally.
