Warsaw, (ST) – Syrian economic delegation yesterday met with Andrizj Arend Arska, Chairman of the Polish Group (Paul Matt) specialized in the production of tractors and means of agricultural production and Adam Macheki, Deputy Director of the Polish Investment Authority. The two sides discussed prospects and ways of cooperation in agricultural production, investment, alternative energy, means of transport and equipment of construction.
The delegation reviewed the current reality of the economy and the serious damage to various economic sectors in the country.
Deputy Minister of Industry, Nidal Fallouh, pointed to the potential of contribution of the Polish side in the rehabilitation of tractors plant in Syria.
The Director General of the Syrian Investment Authority, Halla Ghazal, explained the possibility of cooperation with the Polish side in the rehabilitation of many plants and factories damaged in different parts of the country, stressing that the Syrian government attaches great importance to the rehabilitation of these areas.
Mrs. Ghazal pointed out that the industrial cities scattered in the safe areas of Syria are witnessing excellent movement of productivity at present, expressing hope that the Polish side will be an important partner in the reconstruction of Syria.
She explained that the laws and regulations governing investment in Syria grant privileges and great facilities for foreign investors, pointing to the similarity of the two countries in the field of investment experience.
For his part, Mr. Arska expressed the readiness of his group to cooperate with the Syrian side in the are as mentioned above and meet the needs of the domestic market of the substances listed.
Mr. Machekigave a detailed presentation about the work of Polish Investment Authority and the nature of legislations and laws governing investment in the country, pointing to the existence of 17 free zones in Poland, whereas each area consists of 20 thousand hectares.
Mr.Macheki assured the readiness of the Polish Investment Authority to provide advice to the Syrians business men who wants to invest in Poland and the establishment of joint ventures in the two countries.
For their part, Polish Industrialists confirmed the need to activate cooperation relations between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and businessmen in the two countries.
During the meeting, it was agreed on the importance of continuing communication and cooperation between the two bodies in the field of investment and provide all that is needed to businessmen from both countries and provide them the investment climate and legislation governing it.
The Syrian economic delegation included the Director of Investment Map in the Syrian Investment Authority, Adnan Greg, Director of Studies at the Authority, Jacob Joseph, and members of the Damascus Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
