Indonesian President Jokowi Widodo stressed during the opening of the General Assembly, according to the Indonesian News Agency, the importance of focusing discussions on climate and shedding light on the need to shift towards renewable energies instead of relying on fossil energy, reviewing his country’s experience in this context in terms of reliance on wind, solar and hydroelectric energy.

It is noteworthy that the meetings also aim to exchange views and seek to stimulate parliamentary action on a number of pressing issues such as strengthening democracy, human rights, youth participation, achieving security, arms control, promoting sustainable development efforts, and enhancing information and communication technology as an aid to the education sector, including during times of the pandemic.
