Syria participates in the Mediterranean Countries Film Festival in Alexandria

Syria participates in the 39th edition of the Alexandria Film Festival for Mediterranean Countries through the short feature film Laila’s Passion and the Nobleman (Shaghaf Laila and Al-Shahm) produced by the National Film Organization.

The film, for which the script was written and directed by Khaled Othman, tells the story of the life of a family in which the fates of the characters struggle between the selfishness of the husband and the ambition of the wife, and their daughter pays the price.

The film’s story delves into the psychology of some human models and the extent of the internal conflicts they live through and their effects on the surroundings, but there are always spaces of hope .

A total of 120 films from 25 countries will participate in the festival which kicks off on Monday  until the 5th of October . The jury of the short film competition, which is headed by the artist Mohamed Riad, includes Andrea Ludovicti from Italy and Amer Salameen from the Emirates

It is worth noting that the festival’s 39th edition launches under the slogan “Cinema Dances and Sings.” The festival is headed by the great critic Al-Amir  Abaza, and it will honor a group  of Arab and foreign stars.
