Syria participates in the Arab Parliament’s meetings in Cairo

CAIRO, May.25, (ST)-With the participation of Syria, the Arab Parliament held the 4th  session of the 3rd   legislative term of  its plenary session at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo today.

The Arab parliamentarians discussed the reports of the meetings of the permanent and sub-committees, related to following up on developments in the various political, security and social files in the Arab region, and ratifying them.

They also reviewed the “Palestine Committee” report, which comes in light of the special attention that the Arab Parliament pays to the Palestinian issue, as it is the central issue, especially amid the continuation of the Israeli war of genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, calling for stopping it immediately.

In his speech during the opening session, Adel Al-Asoumi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, referred to the importance of the call issued by the recent Arab summit to hold an international conference to resolve the Palestinian issue on the basis of establishing an independent Palestinian state.

He also pointed out what the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip have been subjected to for several months, a war of genocide and forced displacement, and war crimes have been committed against them in which thousands of innocent people have been killed, most of them children and women, with the continued blind American support for these crimes with money and weapons.

In the same context, a member of the Syrian People’s Assembly, Sheikh Jaber Al-Kharafan, said in a statement to SANA’s correspondent in Cairo: “During today’s session, the reports of the committees were discussed, including the Legislative Laws and Human Rights Committee, and the condemnation of the Israeli aggression against the Palestinians and against Syrian lands was also emphasized.”

Al-Kharafan asserted the need to lift the unjust Western economic blockade against the Syrian people and to start rebuilding the country.

For her part, the Syrian parliamentarian Ghada Ibrahim said: “We discussed all the recommendations formulated by the general committees that were held in Cairo the day before yesterday, which included many topics in the economic, social and legislative fields. We also discussed today an important item related to the draft internal regulations of the Arab Observatory for Human Rights and its independence.”

While the Syrian Parliamentarian Wahid Al-Zaal indicated that the continuation of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, its genocidal war, and the call for effective Arab and international action to stop the Israeli massacres against the Palestinian people were on the table.

yesterday, the Arab Parliament called on the UN Security Council and the international community to force the Israeli occupation entity to implement the decision of the International Court of Justice to stop its aggression against Rafah, ensure the access of UN investigation committees to the Gaza Strip, and respect the resolutions of international legitimacy and international law.
